Back in School: Executive Certificate in Innovation Strategy at eCornell
I'm beyond excited to let you all in on a bit of personal news: I've officially started the online Executive Certificate Program in Innovation Strategy at Cornell! This journey is something I've been eyeing for a while now, and I've finally taken the plunge. My fascination with tech innovation – think Uber, Tesla, OpenAI, Amazon, Zoom, and Airbnb – has always been more than just using these services. It's about the minds and processes that bring such groundbreaking ideas to life.
In the dynamic sectors of non-profits and social impact, I find success embedded in change and innovation. That's exactly why I've decided to tackle this course series at Cornell. The focus? To develop a plan for innovation that aligns with an organization's objectives and maximizes ROI, be it social or financial.
This program isn't just about learning; it's about doing. I'm thrilled about the hands-on approach, where I'll apply concepts like lean startup, maker space, and design thinking to real-world scenarios.
It's a progressive journey through a series of interconnected courses. I've just completed "Developing Innovation Strategy," which was all about syncing innovative ambitions with broader organizational goals. I'm enrolled in "Building Innovation Competencies," where I'll dive deep into lean startup methodologies, maker culture, and design thinking. I'll then explore "Innovation Tools" – 14 ways to spark and sustain innovation. The last two, "Implementing Innovation" and "Evaluating and Scaling Innovation," will teach me the nuts and bolts of effectively rolling out and scaling innovative projects.
It's a bit surreal to think about - me diving into an Ivy League curriculum - but excitement is definitely in the air. I'm looking forward to unpacking all the knowledge, bringing this excitement and knowledge back, and injecting it into fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
I have clear goals: to absorb every bit of knowledge, apply it innovatively, and lead change with confidence. It's about shaping a future where innovation isn't just a buzzword but a tangible, impactful reality. I'm eager to see where this path takes me and how it transforms my approach to problem-solving and strategy. I can't wait to share the lessons and breakthroughs along the way. Here's to new beginnings and continuous learning.
